Hard to believe we are at the half-year mark already, time seems to be moving so fast nowadays - maybe it's because we have so many things we attempt to complete and not taking the time to relax to see the sights. This past month I spent nearly every week on the road and captured so many images that I will be sharing in the future; it's exciting to have a good selection of images that I believe you will enjoy. Can honestly say I rarely slow down to enjoy the sights, a habit I am trying to break. Let's get right to the images for this month!

Last month we were in the still snowy region of Northern California, so this month we fly across the country to visit Portland Head Light, in Portland Maine. If we wanted to drive between the locations, just over 3100 miles and about 50 hours, without stopping for fuel, eating or sleeping - guess the plane would be much easier. Unfortunately, it was low tide, so the waves were less dramatic than they can be but at the same time, it allowed me to get some lower viewpoints plus stay dry at the same time. Mother Nature was not kind in my last few weekends of capturing Lighthouses, the clouds have been mostly non-existent, guess that means I need to photograph more of them. This is one location that I would like to visit earlier in the morning, about an hour before this image was captured but this is one location where the local police lock the gates at night and unlock them about 30 minutes before sunrise. For reference, sunrise on this day was about 4:45 am - not sure I really need to be there any sooner. Camera Data: 30mm 1/200 sec F22 ISO100

We have United States Independence Day on July 4th, which means fireworks for American-based readers. The image here is from the Peoria IL Red, White and Boom firework celebration in 2023, the show claims to be the largest in the state but recently the Village of Itasca has made that claim but with a twist, they are claiming their value of fireworks is the largest - is that something to try and claim? Does not matter to me, as long as the show is a sufficient length and can capture some great images, I really don't care about the claims. Camera Data: 24mm 10 sec F11 ISO100
