Sending thoughts and prayers to everyone in the Southeast US after the damage sustained from Hurricane Helene. My shooting schedule has just lightened up as the final motorcycle race weekend has been completed, over this year I traveled to eleven states to cover 20 professional race events. The last eight weeks have been very busy with travel, so slowing down a little will be nice - one car race next weekend and then my hockey season will begin. Our images this month are from travel last month, to America's first National Park, Yellowstone - a location I really need to spend a few weeks in one trip to explore areas that I have skipped in previous adventures.

Our first image is looking at sunrise over Yellowstone Lake, near West Thumb area. This image was captured as we were leaving the park to look for wildlife near Grand Teton National Park. Honestly was not planning to capture sunrise but when this scene was seen, it was a quick stop and a few frames captured; off we went. Camera Data: 80mm 1/1000 sec F16 ISO800

The next image is a common scene for those taking their time and not trying to rush between locations within the park. Unfortuantely those rushing from point to point will create accidents with vehicles and the animals. In this case, the mother bear came out of the brush on the right side of the road and I had to slam on the brakes to avoid hitting her. Initially she moved along the side of the road eating grass and then two cubs came down to the road side, once both were along the road she proceeded across the road with one cub in tow while one was lagging behind. Shortly after we left this this location, we came upon a moose cow and calf near a lake and I reported this black bear and cubs to the rangers on the scene - they had been watching this bear and lost her in the trees but were happy to hear she moved across the road safely. For the readers who have been to Great Smoky Mountain National Park, the black bears in the west are nearly twice the size of the black bears in the southeast. Camera Data: 95mm 1/320 sec F8 ISO400

Here's a link to download the appropriate version of this month's image for your desktop, one for standard screens and one for wide-screens along with a Mobile Phone Image. For desktop computers or tablets, Right click on the text for the format you need and select Save As, save to a location on your device and change the background as needed for your OS.

For Mobile devices, most mobile phones require a long press and a menu popup will be displayed, click save then follow the steps for your operating system to set as your background image.

If anyone has problems or questions with their mobile device, let me know and I will try to assist.
