Tim Lester Images Monthly Update
Summer is almost over and fall is right around the corner, I for one, am ready for some great fall colors. Hopefully the recent rains in the Midwest will help produce some wonderful colors. Those individuals who follow me social media feeds, hope you enjoyed the images from my trip to South Dakota. Working on a few more trips this fall, so stay tuned for future trips and picture stories. If you are not following my photography social channels, what are you waiting for? The first image is from my recent trip to South Dakota, sunrise at Sylvan Lake in Custer State Park. The Black Hills region is a wonderful place to visit, if you have not taken the time you should start making your plans for next year. For movie buffs, Sylvan Lake was featured in the filming of National Treasure, Book of Secrets along with Mount Rushmore about 30 miles away. Anyone who has seen the film, or plans to watch now, the characters follow a winding path below the sculpture among the ponderosa pines and rocky outcrops. The characters are then seen ascending a metal staircase that in real life leads to a canyon behind the carved faces which is not open to the public. Once the movie's treasure hunters climb the metal staircase, they wind up on a beautiful lake that actually doesn't exist at Mount Rushmore, the scene has the characters on top of the rock wall across the lake in this image.
Our second image this month is highlighting the rider of the number 6 motorcycle, Brad Baker - this image was captured last May in Springfield IL. While practicing for the ESPN X-Games Flat Track race 6 weeks ago, Brad crashed and was seriously injured. At this time I don't know what the diagnosis or expected recovery from the injury, I will be seeing Brad over the Labor Day weekend and hopefully hear some good news from him directly. Brad is a great person who has donated numerous items to help support other injured riders competing in American Flat Track events.
