Monthly_Update Message
Spring is officially here and soon everyone will be thawing out, if not already; those friends in the higher latitudes and elevations have another month or two. March was a very busy month, shooting mostly ice hockey with tens of thousands of frames shot during the four weeks. Race season has started, so traveling to race tracks every few weeks will begin soon.
The first image is Lower Calf Creek Falls in Escalante National Monument near Boulder Utah. The lower falls drop about 125 feet into a nice pool of water, a welcome swimming hole in summer but quite cold in spring time when this image was captured. The six mile round trip hike is fairly flat and there are numbered posts along the trail listing interesting viewpoints. About a mile and a half up the canyon from the parking lot, on a wall quite high up are two Fremont granaries and a group of pictograph panels, dated to approximately AD 1200. The Fremont people is a pre-Columbian archaeological culture which inhabited sites in what is now Utah and parts of Nevada, Idaho and Colorado from AD 1 to 1301.
Our second image this month is the band named The Way Down Wanderers, a band from Peoria IL that I have been able to shoot a few local concerts over the past few years. Reason I present them to you this month is they were recently mentioned nationally in Rolling Stone Magazine.
