The first image for this month is the newly refreshed Murray Baker bridge between Peoria and East Peoria, this is the Interstate 74 bridge. This image was taken from the East Peoria side looking across the Illinois River at Peoria. I will admit I already have a love/hate relationship with this bridge. It started out as hate, based on the astronomer and tax payer part of me, due to the amount of lights installed. On the flip side, the photographer part of me is going to love the different colors during the year. Looking forward to Fourth of July fireworks along the river front.
For the long time subscribers of this monthly newsletter, you know around the beginning of the year is my time to celebrate the American Bald Eagle. The second image is an immature eagle going for a fish in the Mississippi River. Based on the color of feathers, this bird is around 3-4 years old. I am hoping for a cold winter so more eagles stay along the Midwest river corridors. Do you think this bird was able to capture his next meal? Sorry to say but no meal was captured - I am happy that I captured the moment.
Here's a link to download the appropriate version of this month's image for your desktop, one for standard screens and one for wide-screens. Right click on the text for the format you need and select Save As, save to a location on your computer that you can remember and change the background as needed for your OS.
