Currently writing this as I sit in a Press Room at a racetrack for a MotoAmerica event, anyone who follows me on social media knows that I have been traveling to numerous race tracks this year. There is good and bad with all the traveling and luckily for most of the events I have been attending nothing I have been at was canceled due to weather, delayed or changed. Here in Minnesota there are air quality alerts due to the forest fire smoke moving across the northern part of our country, hopefully it's not impacting your location. While not planned, this month is a couple of images both taken at ISO 6400, back in the film days this ISO was rarely used due to grain and poor image quality due to the technology challenges of the time. While some photographers still have a mindset of avoiding higher ISO's, the digital cameras of today can produce high quality at ISO's higher than this - so if you have new camera and need to use the higher values, don't be afraid to try them.

If you want to get out and visit some beautiful scenes in the US, you should not have to travel far as there is beauty in every state but some states can provide more opportunities. Light pollution is a big problem around the world, so seeing the night sky can be difficult depending on your location. This image of the Milky Way and Balanced rock was taken in Arches National Park near Moab UT a couple of years ago. Do you remember the first or last time you were able to see the stars of the Milky Way in the night sky? Camera Data: 14mm 20 sec F4.5 ISO6400

Our action image this month is from the AMA Amateur Grand Championship event from a few weeks ago. The 'Grands' are a yearly event where amateur flat track racers from around the country come to prove they are the best. This year you could find racers under the age of 5 to 'kids' in their 60's and 70's from all over the country! The catch is that they have to show their skills on multiple dirt venues, a Short Track, TT, Half Mile and a Mile. It was a ton of work but fun to watch the competition, the two racers shown in this month's image are a couple of teenagers who entered four different classes in each event and battled near the front in every one of them. This image was captured on their final day on the Half Mile. Camera Data: 350mm 1/400 sec F11 ISO6400

Here's a link to download the appropriate version of this month's image for your desktop, one for standard screens and one for wide-screens along with a Mobile Phone Image. For desktop computers or tablets, Right click on the text for the format you need and select Save As, save to a location on your device and change the background as needed for your OS.

For Mobile devices, most mobile phones are straight forward to download images but Apple users might need a few tips.
Apple iOS Downloads - click the Mobile Phone link to open the image:
Without 3D Touch enabled - tap and hold on the image, select Save Image
With 3D Touch enabled - tap and hold but with no pressure on the screen, select Save Image

If anyone has problems or questions with their mobile device, let me know and I will try to assist.
